Exeter is the home to the ruins of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rougemont_Castle\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rougemont_Castle\" target=\"_blank\">Rougemont Castle<\/a> and located just outside the castle is <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Northernhay_Gardens\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Northernhay_Gardens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Northernhay Gardens<\/a>&#8211; the oldest public open space in England, being oringinally laid out in 1612 as a pleasure walk for the residents of Exeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exeter<\/strong> is home to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exeterchiefs.co.uk\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.exeterchiefs.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Exeter Chiefs <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exetercityfc.co.uk\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.exetercityfc.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Exeter City FC<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejockeyclub.co.uk\/exeter\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.thejockeyclub.co.uk\/exeter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Exeter Racecourse<\/a>. The historic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exeterquayside.co.uk\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.exeterquayside.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Exeter Quay<\/a> also hosts kayaking activities, cycling routes and a climbing wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you are <\/strong>in Exeter then why not visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exeter-cathedral.org.uk\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.exeter-cathedral.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cathedral<\/a>. Situated just off the main shopping area, you can slip into another quieter world around the Cathedral green.
